Separate Employee - Involuntary

Action

1. 

Select the Manager Self-Service link.

 

The Manager Self-Service menu items display.

2. 

Select the Separations & Retirement link.

 

The Separation menu items display.

3. 

Select the Involuntary Separation link.

 

A list of your direct reports and any indirect reports display.

4. 

Select the employee you are separating.

 

The Involuntary Separation page will display.

5. 

Enter Separation Effective Date

 

Select the Calendar icon next to the field Separation Effective Date. 

 

A calendar displays.

6. 

Select the date agreed to with your HR Specialist as the employee's Separation Effective Date, one day after the employee works, or, uses any paid leave.

 

The Separation Effective Date populates with the date entered.

7. 

The "Last Date Paid Through" calculates to be one day less than the Separation Effective Date. (This is to be the date the employee last worked or used leave.)

8. 

Enter Last Date Physically Worked

 

The Last Date Physically Worked is the last date on which the employee was actually present at a job site.

 

Select the Calendar icon.

 

A calendar will display.

9. 

Select the date on which the employee was last physically present at a job site.

 

The Last Date Physically Worked field populates.

10. 

Enter Separation Reason

 

Select the Reason for Separation Dropdown arrow.

 

A list of possible involuntary separation reasons display.

11. 

Select the separation reason agreed upon with your HR Employee Relations Specialist.

12. 

Select the Submit button.

 

The Save Confirmation page displays with a message window.

13. 

The message reminds you to refer the employee to the Employee Separation Checklist for a list of things to do.

 

Select the OK button for the message window.

14. 

The employee will be terminated on the date you identified as the Separation Effective Date.
